Popular Post Tdm_86 Posted June 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted June 11, 2023 Today, I’m a bit disappointed in myself. I’m smoking some pork neck. Of course I need a cigar while I’m babysitting my BBQ. I get the thing all set up and to temp, meat is on and going nice and steady. Off to the humidor for a Siglo III. Picked out a nice one, a real looker. Smells great, beautiful wrapper. Literally set the cigar down for 1 second to grab my cutter and I drop the damn thing from the table. The wrapper all split to hell. But I’m still going to give it a go. Box code unknown, I just have it marked as ‘2021’. Pre-light Well, it was a very nice looking cigar before my dumb ass dropped it. As you can see, very tattered now. Smells lovely still, fresh hay and a bit fruity. Straight cut it, draw isn’t the greatest because of the splits. But it seems the binder held. First third Hard to evenly light, but I manage. Not very happy with the draw, lots of false air. The first 10 puffs or so don’t give me much taste other than ‘cigar’. After that it settles in though and burns surprisingly well. I can kind of make out some of the flavors I expect from Siglo III. This is harsher than usual and sways more towards coffee and nuts instead of the creamy and tangy (citrus) I would think of in this cigar. The flavors are enjoyable, so I’m not complaining. This continues for some time before a big chunk of wrapper flakes off. Second third Now that more of the wrapper came off, the draw actually gets better and less inconsistent. The burn is still quite good. Flavor wise, a little bit of added depth on the retrohale with some faint wisps of lemongrass. The wrapper gets progressively worse, the wrapper at the cap is all gone which makes it less enjoyable to smoke. Mea culpa. Final third Not much to report, the band was what held the last bit of wrapper on. That last piece promptly came off once I removed the band. I soldiered on, as the taste was still nice. More coffee, nuts and hay. Alas, the binder loosened up so much that there was no sense in continuing on. So I unceremoniously dumped it in the ashtray. Conclusion I’m a dumbass for dropping it. Through no fault of the cigar itself, I can’t score this highly. It did fill the purpose of ‘cigar while watching the BBQ’. The amount of fiddling with a damaged cigar like this isn’t that fun, even when the flavors are ok. 79/100 9
Tdm_86 Posted June 13, 2023 Author Posted June 13, 2023 I was thinking about this thing and it occurred to me that before Cigarmageddon, I would’ve tossed this way sooner. I think subconsciously the new pricing factored in. What would you guys have done? Tossed it immediately or soldier through like I did?

Totally cracked the wrapper near the head. But, much like you, I certainly soldiered on. My stick wasn't nearly as beat up as yours but if this were a lesser stick I may have just ditched it for another. This was also my first or second sampling out of my 2020 cab so I wanted to see how it was smoking (it was phenomenal). I love this vitola, maybe my favorite cohiba dare I say. 1

It’s certainly up there with my favorite Cohibas too, maybe I like Sig IV a touch better (but not always). 1
