El Presidente Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Not a new relesase as it has been out over two years. New to the caribbean market. Andy Ryan brought some to try last year in London. I thought it was pretty good. Thoughts from those who have tried? https://tt.loopnews.com/content/moet-hennessy-introduces-new-cuban-rum-local-market-661704 There's a new rum on the market. Thanks to Moet Hennessy, Eminente is now available locally. The award-winning rum was officially launched in the Trinidad and Tobago market at Arazzi Lounge on May 17. Created by Cesar Marti, the youngest Cuban Maestro Ronero or Rum Master, Eminente was inspired by a Cuban island that locals call, “Isla del Cocodrilo.” Eminente Reserva, Loop News understands, possesses the aesthetics of a traditional Cuban light rum but with the complexity and depth of a very old one. It draws inspiration from the richness and depth of flavour of 19th Century Cuban rum. Surprisingly unknown outside the island, this style of rum is one of Cuba’s best-kept secrets. Speaking at the launch event, Alexander Helaine, Moët Hennessy’s Market Manager, said "It is a pleasure to introduce a Cuban rum into Trinidad & Tobago; a rum lovers country." The Eminente Reserva is a rich and full-bodied rum, aged for a minimum of seven years in white oak barrels. Ideal for sipping on its own over a large ice cube or in cocktails, Eminente Reserva possesses the aesthetics of a traditional Cuban light rum, but with the complexity and depth of a very old one. Eminente sets new standards with Reserva made with 70% of aged aguardientes, the highest proportions among all Cuban Rums. Drawing inspiration from 19th-century Cuban rum, César Martí brought a renewed complexity to this Central Cuban rum by mastering the art of ageing and blending aguardientes (or cuban sugarcane eaux-de-vie) Eminente is intrinsically linked to Cuba’s untainted nature, down to its bottle and logo. Its sensorial, textured glass and crocodile-shaped island on the label are reminiscent of the native animal. 2
Corylax18 Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 It is delicious. Jose Candia was gracious enough to share some of a bottle he had earlier this year and I was very impressed. I've only tried it the one time, but it paired very well with a cigar and its extremely smooth. It may be my favorite Cuban rum now. I'm excited to hear they're selling it in Cuba now, I will definitely pick up a couple bottles next time I'm down there. 1 2
gustavehenne Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 I found it had an unpleasant vanilla taste that seemed out of place. Id take a Flor de Cana 18 years old over this stuff any day (roughly same price in the UK) 1
ha_banos Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 This was recommended by a friend. Now given Gustav here likes FdC Rum and I do not, I'm hopeful, but indeed - the proof is in the pudding so to speak...
