Popular Post Sir Diggamus Posted May 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 15, 2023 H. Upmann Majestic SMA DIC18 This cigar feels very light from the time I grabbed it from the humidor and is a little squishy to the feel. It smells outstanding with the aroma of coca and a little barnyard. After I clip it I see that little divot in the cigar that is usually a good sign. Dry draw is just tobacco in flavor and feels like it's going to be a wind tunnel. NO resistance. I light it up and here we go. The first flavors I get immediately are pepper and cream. It definitely doesn't draw like a wind tunnel with a good amount of smoke and a little resistance. It goes out after the first few puffs and needs to be relit. The pepper subsides after the relight and mostly goes away completely after the first 1/4 inch in. It goes out again. After an inch or so in the flavors are a nice light cream with a vegetal/herby note on the retrohale. This is not a note I find usually in an Upmann but it is nice. Entering into the 2/3 the herby note goes away and it is all cream and a nice baking spice note. The flavor is nice but I am forced to puff on it almost constantly to keep it lit as the cigar keeps going out if set down for more than a minute or so. A little way into the last 1/3 the cream is still there but a sweet meat note emerges. Like a beef jerky with a sugar glaze. That note sticks around until I nub the cigar. This Majestic was different in flavors than many others I have tried from the same box in a good way, and the draw was much better than I anticipated before I lit it. It was a very frustrating cigar because it out at least a dozen times throughout. 89 rating 6
