El Presidente Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 I love a great Speakeasy. While the moon and stars have never quite aligned, it is one itch that remains to be scratched. BeerPimp Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Oddly enough we have 2 1/2 speakeasies in my small city. The other room has a inconspicuous door in the alley with a light above it that is either red or green above it to let you know if they are full. The inside of the door is a bookshelf so it just blends in when they close it behind you. They change the cocktails every 2 or 3 months. It's interesting they have a marijuana tax stamp in a frame on the wall. The newer one which I have not been to yet is casino themed. You goto a phone booth in an alley downtown and pick up the phone and tell them the password of the month which is on their social media. The 3rd one which I call 1/2 because its a bar that has a door in the alley. Its the back stage of an old theater and has a lot of the old hardware still in it. Its a super chill bar that has amazing drinks. Its also only like 1 block away from Jake's which is the best cigar bar in my city. Actually the 2nd speakeasy is only 2 blocks away from Jakes also. El Pres if you ever make it smack dab in the middle of the US in Nebraska definitely check them out.
