At the outset of the EPL season I was openly mocking Man U's awful start... I'm a Chelsea fan... oh, lord, how the tables have turned. 🤦‍♂️

A mate just sent me these... funny but truly sad... especially when you tack on a 300 million pound spend in the transfer market. :spotlight:

only thing better has been the spurs cesspool. who doesn't love that.

looks like the gunners have not forgotten how to collapse like a greg norman final round at the masters.

you want sporting predictions coming back to bite?

years ago, 2001 i believe. a great mate of mine was chairman of the Lions AFL (actually just on the board at this stage). the AFL had shoehorned a great player, Lee Matthews, in as coach in 1999 as the side had been struggling for some time. still was. they had good players - some who would turn out to be among the greatest of all time - but could not win a raffle if they were the only ones to buy a ticket. almost half way through the season, things were dire. we had just copped an absolute flogging from Carlton, losing by near100 points. we were just on the edge of the final eight at this stage.

i know i was far from the only one who'd had a gutful. rang my mate - we chatted most weeks at least once - and said enough. grow a pair. sack this useless joke of a coach. get anyone. this is embarrassing. could not coach kids into an ice-cream parlour. got told no, they could not do that. he was locked in. he would remain coach. i teed off on our certain slide to wooden spoon.

that carlton loss was the last one they lost for the season. undefeated for the rest of the year. went on to beat the hot favourites, Essendon, in the grand final. went on to win two more grand finals in the next two seasons (would have been a fourth if the AFL hadn't decided it was time to share things around and screwed them in the finals). matthews now considered one of the all time great coaches.

mind you, as much as he reminds me of that, i was the first to tell him, after we won that year, that we would threepeat (although that was simply a little hyperbole in the excitement of winning the thing, if i am being truthful).
