alkiviadis Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 Inside my coolidor, I store a lot of loose cigars in Ziploc type bags (Hefty Freezer Sliders). My recent understanding is that these are made from Polyethylene, which can off-gas and potentially interfere with the aromas of the cigars. I'd like to get my stock moved out of these bags and into some that are totally neutral / safe for long term storage. (I already use some Rubbermaid Brilliance containers which seem to be made of a safe plastic, but for storage reasons it's nice to have bags in addition to rigid containers.) Can anyone recommend particular types of plastic that should be safe for long term storage? Perhaps some specific brand recommendations? Thanks!

NSXCIGAR Posted March 23, 2023 Posted March 23, 2023 LDPE (ziplock bags) is perfectly fine if you're storing inside an already controlled environment like a coolidor. LDPE is fairly gas-permeable but as long as there's no vapors nearby to contamintate you're fine.
