As a product of catholic schools, dioramas were darn near a monthly thing.  I may have used some cigar boxes over the years.  Dutch Masters boxes were the bomb!

.....I honestly had no idea.

I am a catholic school lad as well and never made nor seen a one.  It may be a US thing. My first encounter with a diorama was on the Simpsons 😅

I think it is very much a US thing.  That and science fair tri-fold boards....

Yep.  I definitely did this and it's apparently still a thing.  All my empty boxes go to an art teacher an a local elementary school.

Heh.  Me too here in the District and I don't remember ever having seen them.  So not sure it was a US thing.  Although it was a very long time ago.
