shokao Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 I was looking for a brazilian tobacco experience and was tired of our cigars: poor construction and most of them green. Looked for options in my humidor and remembered about the Davidoff Escurio, featuring brazilian Cubra as binder and with Mata Fina and dominican tobacco as filler. Seemed like a good choice! The first third was a bit dry: lots of hay and wood. About halfway through, hints of toasted tobacco and dry grass. I must say that those are flavors that I do not enjoy in a cigar. What caught my attention as every Davidoff that I had was the construction and draw: flawless! As much as I did wanted to like this cigar, there was something that came in the second third that I’ve never tasted before in a cigar: chicory. This bitter vegetable taste infused with wood and hay and I was thirsty as hell. Grab my beer of choice and prepared to put it down any moment. Construction and burn was perfect the whole time. Flavors ramained the same and the last third was a bit harsh for my taste. Although it had a brazilian soul, it disappointed me just like as any other national cigar I had until now. At this point, I didn’t wanted to smoke it anymore: Considering its MRSP of $18, my rating for this cigar is a poor 55/100. I would not buy this again… ever. 4
targa88 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Sorry the stick was disappointing. Great view from where you were smoking... 1
gustavehenne Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Try the Corona Gorda in the Escurio line. I've smoked a few Escurio vitolas and outside the CG I was pretty disappointed.
Chris P. Bacon Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Surprised to see such a poor review. It’s unfortunate when that happens. In the Black Label line, the Escurio is my go-to. @gustavehenne is on point with his recommendation. Pair it with a simple margarita and the flavors will really pop!
Cairo Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Escurio is one of those love it or hate it cigars--a truly unique taste. I enjoy them in all different sizes, including the mixed filler primeros--petite coronas (which are the strongest of all--and imho the strongest of all the Davidoffs out there).
