Popular Post ayedfy Posted January 1, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 1, 2023 Partagas Short. 42x4.375. Year unknown, single purchased mid-late 2022, probably from a dress box based on slight box-pressed appearance. Opening third: coffee cream liqueur and butterscotch at first. Medium bodied. A juicy fruit note introduces itself; large, ripe plums. There’s also a distinct character of sweet baked goods, like an iced bun or cinnamon scroll. Draw is on the firmer side but I don’t mind that. Even burn. Middle third: the baked good note turning more savoury (towards the sourdough I’ve been told about with this one), although there’s still a strong sweetness holding via the continuation of the plum element. Still impressed with the construction - burn became uneven after the first ash fell off, but righted itself without correction. Sweetness does fade towards the latter stages of this third, and body dips a touch, with the sourdough note running solo. Final third: body jumps a notch above medium, with the emergence of a citrus twang (lemon zest), as well as a developing oaky wood spice. Momentary resurfacing of the creaminess and confectionary sweetness from the beginning of the first third. Stays on point right down to the nub. Unsurprised this is such a faithful everyday smoke for many. Undemanding easy smoking, with enough happening to reward closer attention, and short enough that you can jump back inside soon enough if it’s too cold (or in my southern hemisphere experience tonight, escape the mozzies coming out for blood). 88/100 11 1
