Smokers Express: The Concept Airline That Would Have Encouraged Inflight Cigarette Use

Steaks, burgers, free cigarettes, and Lotto tickets – the airline that never came to be.

In 1993, William Walts and former Walt Disney executive, George “Mickey” Richardson introduced their airline, Smokers Express. Upset by the non-smoking policy of major American airlines, the duo conceived the idea of an airline that would be favorable to smokers.

OKC is a difficult place to fly to and would've been welcomed by me for the weekly flights I use to fly for years.  Easier to fly Europe than OKC if you live in the North East.

I think a membership airline that is adult only with better food and drink could work.  Especially for domestic business travel.

Early 90s was too soon. Cigarette companies, through decades of lying about killing people, bestowed an insurmountable negative stigma on anything smoking themed. Plus, the government beating the habit like a rented mule. Nobody in their right mind would invest.

Beating on tobacco is the one thing every world government agrees on.
