Popular Post Wailbait Posted November 20, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 20, 2022 Years ago, I had a few sticks left from both a 2014 and 2016 box of Fonsecas. Since they have tissue paper, it was easy to write a 4 or 6 so I knew which was which. The 14 were MOE OCT 14. I spaced on the 16s as they were just a solid box. I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist but I SWEAR certain cigars had blend changes around 2015. Older 898s are super strong while new ones seem quite approachable. The Fonseca 1 is exactly the same. My 13 and 14s are REALLY strong and the newer ones I have had are quite mild and friendly. This cigar is just perfect for what it is. Not the sheeniest wrapper but really consistent in color. The cold draw is muted. First light, though, it’s really Great!! These have never been the final word on complexity but they are classic Cuban cigars. I love the funk. I love the wood and subtle tar. I tend to like some more fruit in a cigar if I am going to score it above a 93 (Choix, la Gloria, older Allones etc) but this cigar is a wonderful relaxing stick and I am glad to have it now as I think I am getting it at a perfect time. My 2014s need a longer nap. 8
