Popular Post TR Posted November 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 6, 2022 Well, what can I say about this box of Sanchos? I believe it is from 1999-2002 or something like that. Procured from Team Czar many years ago. I took a photo of the box code, but it is not legible. (Thanks JohnS for decoding that it is a box from October 1998.) The A size is not a cigar that I typically reach for. I have several Monte and Opus A’s in the aristocrat I just never seem to reach for them. First 1/3: The cigar is well constructed. Pre-light had a very smooth tobacco draw. V-cut and paired with coffee tequila a back up mineral water. Upon lighting the Sancho, I was met with very smooth and sweet leather flavors. Very enjoyable. The draw is firm, but not too firm. 2nd 1/3: I’m really digging the flavors and then white pepper enters the party. A very slight white pepper after taste at first. As the cigar progresses through the 1/3, the flavor intensifies. The draw is slightly firm, but the burn is razor sharp. By the end of the 2nd 1/3, the profile transitions to more of a medium profile. Super enjoyable thus far. Last 1/3: The sweet leather flavor has intensified, and became less sweet. The white pepper is more pronounced, I’m on my 3rd 12 ounce glass of coffee tequila, so I might be a bit drunk. The white pepper is more pronounced but still very enjoyable. The first 2/3 of the cigar, the volume of smoke was light to medium. As soon as the last 1/3 started, the smoke volume tripled. The cigar never turned bitter. Final thoughts: excellent cigar. Well constructed, nearly perfect burn ( the final 1/3 got a bit wonky), straight forward flavors. SP is one hell of a flavor profile and often overlooked for more mainstream brands. Not my usual size to grab but enjoyed it immensely. 3 left, may have to space them out at 10 year intervals. 4.0/5.0, if you can find them and have the time, you won’t regret it. 9
