Popular Post Wailbait Posted October 18, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 18, 2022 You certainly never need to ask twice for me to smoke a PLPC. I currently have boxes from 13 and 14 open and some from 08 that I am going through. Few cigars, at their modest price point, reward aging as well. When I first started smoking cigars, I was dismissive of the short fuller sticks under the rationale, “I already smoke less than 1 stick a week, why should I compromise?” This was supported by the fact that, years later, someone gave me a somewhat recent PLMC and I hated it. Flash forward a few years and I learn some stuff. Well - more that - my esteemed MDO4 were hard to get and very expensive. And someone gave me an AME 13 PLMC. I was BLOWN AWAY. This particular box wasn’t aged by me but purchased from FOH auctions a few years back and I paid, what I thought at the time was an ASTRONOMICAL price, but I justified it because it was still 1/3 of the cost of the MDO4s. Its a stunning cigar. Wonderful funk and earthy notes. It doesn’t have the added fruitiness of the mdo4 but damn if it isn’t just a commercial for why we age Cuban tobacco. Gone is perhaps a bit of sparkle and too note, but in its place is a deep sense of place. A well aged box of these is truly a requirement in any decent humidor. @leepers and I both agreed that this was a 93-94 cigar. If that seems insane for a thin, short filler stick, then I urge you to age a box. 6 1
