Popular Post Tdm_86 Posted July 18, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 18, 2022 Found this in the back of my humidor. Apparently these are Coronas Extra, so why not quickly review one? Box code unknown, it’s out of a 4 pack, that I do know is from 2018. I’m in the camp of ‘I get it’ on Vegueros. Value for money IMO. Pre-light Quite a nice appearance for such a budget stick, evenly colored wrapper, good roll. Smells a bit vegetal. Great draw, not much resistance. The cold draw tastes of hay. First third It is very light in body, the draw flavor is a bit grassy but also very creamy. So not that fresh cut green grass bitterness. A little punchy on the retrohale, not so pleasant. Second third Still creamy, which is nice. The draw flavor now has a little bit of coffee grounds that is still grassy around the edges. Retrohale is a bit smoother now and reveals some raisins. Final third The creamy notes disappear mostly and it all goes a bit sour once I reach the band. Conclusion Some call this a ‘poor man’s Cohiba’ but I wouldn’t go that far. These are pleasant enough, but there’s no real depth. The flavors are there, but there’s no nuance to them. The Upmann Majestic I reviewed previously had more balance and was more refined for example. Still, I did enjoy this cigar and will keep smoking them every now and again. 83/100 6
