Popular Post Tdm_86 Posted July 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted July 16, 2022 Another short review, this time a cheap and cheerful. Paired with a nice and simple Scotch. The H. Upmann Majestic, an Upmann Light if you will. Not as much oomph as the more premium offerings, but definitely has the Upmann DNA in my experience. I always keep a box of these around. Who doesn’t love a Corona (though only just) for this price? Pre-light Not the most beautiful cigar you can imagine, but that’s not to be expected. The roll feels even, just one little soft spot near the foot. The smell is actually very nice, bready and spicy. Once cut, the cold draw is yeasty and mineral forward. Kind of a snug draw, might have to use the PerfecDraw if it comes to it. First third The flavor is there off the rip, yeasty toasted tobacco that’s quite creamy and easy to retrohale. The finish is not very long and fades into raisinettes. Surprisingly the draw opened up to an acceptable level after a few puffs. Second third Now I’m starting to really get that Upmann DNA, shortbread, coffee and spice with a hint of dried fruit on the retrohale and all very creamy. Now, these flavors are muted when compared to, say, a Mag 46 or one of the Connies. But still there and definitely detectable. Final third Basically, more of the above, but a bit grittier. Once past the band it isn’t that enjoyable anymore as the flavors get dirty and acrid. Conclusion A very enjoyable cigar, especially if you take the price into account. My personal opinion is that these are criminally underrated. Just take into account that the intensity and richness won’t be there compared to the more premium Upmanns. Let’s say this is at 70%. This example was not the best of the Majestics I’ve had, but still very respectable. 86/100 7
Fugu Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 Spot-on review on the Majestic! 👍 I am finding the Regalias a touch above them lately. 2
