Popular Post Tdm_86
About 2 weeks ago, I smoked one of these at a BBQ and I remember it being extremely tasty. Now, I had been downing quite a few glasses of wine and was having some pretty well peated Islay Scotch with the cigar. So I’ve been meaning to revisit this to see whether it’s still as tasty, what better time than a PC review weekend! The cigars came from a local brick and mortar, got them about 6 months ago. The box they came from was MSU JUL 18. Formula 1 free practice is on, perfect length for a Petit Corona. Pre-light Bit of a mottled wrapper, a little lumpy too. Smells of hay and tobacco. I straight cut it, draw is excellent. The cold draw doesn’t reveal much other than sweet tobacco. First half On the first draws, there is a very pronounced vanilla sweetness. Now, sweet does not mean light in this case. On the palate there is this big bold tobacco core with a bitter drying effect. This is exactly like the other one was, very satisfying. It’s kind of like a gin&tonic. Not the flavors, but the sweetness up front followed by the bitter drying effect. On the retrohale I can detect something of a dark cherry. Second half The draw flavor remains sweet, not vanilla anymore but darker sweetness. On the palate it got way bolder. Leather, earth and coffee. The retrohale is now all dried fruit. As I go past the band all the sweetness goes and the smoke starts tasting of toasted mixed nuts. The smoke gets too hot or I would’ve smoked it even further down. Conclusion It held up to my inebriated recollection of the other one. Construction was good, didn’t have to correct the burn and the ash held on for a few inches at a time. Smoked it in about 45 minutes. 93/100
