LOMTL Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 Interesting book, in French though. Great mix of topics I like, Cuba, France, WWI and immigration... From SW France to Cuba, the book depicts a family history (the author's) about poor Béarn people immigrating to Cuba with the prospect of a better life. Never new about French immigration in Cuba, although very small I suspect. Nice anecdotes about barbudos, tough life in the jungle, the revolution and Raul Castro shooting coconuts with a Kalash... Started the book with no expectations, hooked in first 100 pages and 2 Lusitanias, a Rio Seco & 2 Vigias later, I wish I'll forget it fast to read it again. Haven't seen an English version yet... Enjoy! 2 1
