Popular Post ChangBang
Been a frustrating couple days leading up to New years with my furnace going out while I was enjoying a snowboard trip in Utah. With temperatures getting into freezing territory in Colorado(its 11F right now), I had no choice but to cut my trip 2 nights short and drive back so I can get it fixed before I deal with a much bigger problem of my pipes freezing. Picture below is after 10hours of "heating" Of course the fix took like 20 minutes of me tinkering with it so at least it's fixed, but man I think I need a smart lock so next time I can just get a furance person to look into it vs me having to drive back Anyways enough of the rant, let's end the year with hopefully a positive note! Smoked a My Father Lancero that I got around black friday and it's been in the dry box for a week(forgot about it before I went to Utah). Opened up a bottle of Pol Roger and turned on the Michigan v Georgia game. 1 - First couple puffs gave me generic tobacco with a eyewatering peppery retrohale. As I get more into it I get some earth and leather notes. Around the 1inch mark, the retro smooths out and I start getting some sweetness. Cream, pencil shavings, and little hints of black pepper round out the first 3rd. I could do without the pepper, but it ended on a really nice note! 2 - Even with the dry boxing, it's hard to keep the cigar lit and I have to puff it more aggressively than I'd prefer or have to relight. Draw is good so not too sure what the issue is. With these issues, it regresses back to the generic tobacco note with some nuttiness. Nuttiness gets stronger then reverts back the a now generic dirty tobacco. 3- Sticks to the generic tobacco and nuttiness for the remaining 3rd I'm not a big champagne connoisseur but the Pol Roger was tasty with green apple, pear, and a nice lemon citrus flavor! Although I had the kirkland signature champagne not too long ago and my memory has the same notes without as bold of a lemon citrus note and maybe a tad funkier aftertaste. At less than half the price, dunno I think I prefer the kirkland champagne? Overall - I'll give it a 3.5/10, the 1/3 after it settled out was pretty good and if that continued, this would've scored a lot higher for me. But the frequent relights and other 2/3 and 3/3 weren't very good and I was just hoping the flavors would improve or come back. Maybe it needs more time to settle and after a year or so it'll be better. Oh well, I only had the one and I don't plan on buying anymore
