Got off work a bit earlier than expected today and decided to celebrate by taking the dog on a walk. Unfortunately my Cuban stash is running low and waiting on the ever reliable United States Postal Service to deliver the goods.

About the cigar

Crux Epicure in Toro (6 1/4 x 52) - Wrapper is a Ecuadorian Connecticut, binder and filler are both Nicaraguan.

Prelight

Wrapper is perfect, velvet smooth and appears to be good construction. Decided to use a V cut and had an excellent draw.919765854_unnamed(4).jpg.21c6ee02fd94ef70276f53a2474e3240.jpg

First Third

Starts off with light cream, white pepper, and cedar with the first few draws. Evolves into a full robust cedar and red pepper retrohale, hints of sweet tobacco.

Second Third

Cream is coming back strong, spice turning into a buffalo wings sensation on the lips. probably not for everyone considering the heavy spice. After a while hints of milk chocolate start lingering and the heavy spice fades to a white pepper.

Third Third

Cigars becoming a bit spongy, flavors are cream, cedar, milk chocolate, and a new one in aged tobacco.

Final Thoughts

This cigar was all over the place with more spice than expected from this unassuming stick. The cedar seemed to come and go with the pepper and boy it came strong. Final third the spice gave out to a nice combination of flavors that really jived well with one another. Overall the cigar was pretty good but kind of took me off guard and had a lot of transitions. Definitely not for everyone but I'd imagine it'll be loved by some. Total smoke time was an hour and 10 minutes.

Score: 89/100

Golden doodle?

Close, labradoodle. Great dog, also enjoys cigars since it means time to go on a W-A-L-K.
