I was trying to explain Cuba's religious complexity to the deck crew Friday and the role of Santeria.  I am pretty sure I failed miserably. 

santeria and the role it plays is facinating to me.

remind me when i am allowed back to Qld. i have a book on santeria in cuba you are welcome to read. fascinating stuff.

i remember visiting a friend's home - well, her mother/grandparents. the grandmother was seriously into it. the friend thought it largely nonsense but she went along not to offend the grandmother. lots of small images through the house, tiny statues. candles burning. all sorts of stuff.
