Lacquered stogie case w/color depiction of Clay. "The American Statesman Come Every Whig, Your Influence Bring/On This Eventful Day, And May The Western Valleys Ring/With Shouts For Henry Clay." Includes original (worn) removable insert to hold cigars. Lacquered finish is crazed as expected but retains a very high gloss throughout.

It just occurred to me I don't know if it's ever been established that Henry Clay even smoked cigars...

Anyway, the cigar cases didn't help him--Clay lost in 1844 but perhaps that isn't a good thing: Some historians have argued that a Clay victory in the 1844 election would have prevented both the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War
