Liquor store Opus X paired with Pizza (AARW)

Absolutely absurd  you say.   How about finding an Fuente Fuente Opus X at the. local liquor store among a slew of cheap NC selections.  Furthermore how about paying $17 for a stick and smoking it 2 hours after purchase from a questionable humidor.  

Honestly the wrapper appearance is disappointing.  Nothing special to note here.  The tobacco lacks the salt I am used to with CC. The aroma at cold is very much cedar with a barnyard tobacco.   The foot gives off a beautiful vanilla cinnamon note that has me excited.   Should I have let this rest?  Definitely.

  Pepper out of the gates.  Full bodied out of the gates.  A bit of a nicotine kick out of the gates.  What have I gotten myself into?
A deep caramel, clove, cinnamon mixes in with pepper.  The smoke has lightened in body somehow.   Smoother notes of cedar and cream appear.   I am liking this one so far.

The retrohale is pleasant.   Notes of nuts, vanilla, cedar, cinnamon,  cloves, and pepper.  The nicotine kick while present has not been overwhelming.  

 

Half way
  Just to add to the absurdity I ate two slices of pizza. Palate is shot now. All I taste is spice and tomato sauce.  I do my best to cleanse my palate with rose wine.

 

Final 3rd
  Oddly the lingering oregano, tomato sauce is pairing well with the smoke.  The flavor is a tad muted but notes of caramel, vanilla, cinnamon,  cedar and tobacco are all there. The nicotine kick is definitely stronger than the CC I am used to.  Thank goodness the retrohale is not picking up the pizza flavors!  Cream, vanilla, cinnamon,  cloves, all mingle on the retro.

This  cigar should be paid more respect than I showed.  I cannot recommend eating pizza while smoking these.   I can however recommend drinking Rose wine. An outstanding cigar that deserves a legit review.

This was an absurd review for sure. Love it. Opus, MJ, Rose, Zaaa.  All over the place and not a care in the world! Hats off to you.
