Popular Post Fosgate Posted March 16, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 16, 2021 I got this one from a friend to try as I was contemplating buying a box but had not recalled ever trying one before. The flavor profile, "honey sweet, floral and tangy taste, in combination with a lot of bean flavours" sounded good but "The minimum ageing recommended for this cigar goes from three to five years" Made me hesitant to buy into this line without taste. Cut: guillotine Pairing: Old Fashion, O'Dells 50 Shilling & Stella Artois Pilsner Construciton: seemed pretty average with a lighter shade 1st 3rd- I really was not picking up much of anything other than a slight bean flavor as advertise really as I smoked through this first 1/3rd with an Old Fashion for a beverage. The ash was not starting out promising with a bit of an uneven burn to it and falling off prematurely. Tons of aromatic smoke though. 2nd 3rd- I ordered up an Odells 50 Shilling thinking the Old Fashion is too heavy and expected the sweetness in the 50 shilling will blend well with the honey sweetness of the flavor profile of the cigar. Again I was disappointed to find no change in the flavor profile. I cant get an ash more than maybe 3/4 of an inch to hold on and the sides flake a bit. Still tons of smoke Final 3rd- I ordered up a Stella Artois Pilsner and a glass of water near the end of my 2nd 1/3 with an odd look from the bartender looking at my other two unemptied drinks in front of me. I take a drink of water before the beer to wash the pallet a bit. Again simlar results, beany, no other recognisable characteristics. I goto the straight water and that's when I pickup a very slight honey but no floral or tangy characters. Ash is still the same, lots of smoke. No harshness and I could smoke it to the last 1/2 inch but I put it out at about 1 inch. Overall I just found this smoke wasn't for me. I think others might like it's delicate lite flavors or it might be a good golf course or yard smoke that won't tip you over. Unless your looking to get smashed trying to find an alcoholic beverage to pair with it. The ash or lack theroff just capitalized on my personal lack of enjoyment of this cigar. 7
ChangBang Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Nice review - in my notes I had it pretty bland for the first 1/3 with cream and sweet vanilla bean later on for one with only a year on it. Def no floral or tangyness which was disappointing. Only thing more disappointing is your lack of ash lol.
