Popular Post saltbox
Coming from non-Cuban cigars, what I read about Bolivar's flavor profile intrigued me and I proactively picked up two boxes of the PCs and they've proven to be everything I hoped they would be and a great go-to short smoke. First third: Opens with heavy earth over the familiar creamy twang and a light sweetness on the finish. As the cigar warms up black coffee and a touch of cedar join the profile, and there's a touch of anise or black licorice on the finish. Middle third: The licorice fades, leaving the earthy notes and a creamy lightly sweet coffee. As the smoke progresses, the cream starts to fade and the coffee becomes darker and richer. Last third: A bit of spice appears and hangs around, but otherwise the smoke remains basically unchanged through to the end. Overall: So far as a newbie, I've got Partagas, Por Larranaga, San Cristobal, RyJ, Cohiba, under my belt. This Bolivar was probably the closest a Cuban has come to a non-Cuban for me, in terms of its earthiness and darker flavors. Still worlds apart, but greatly enjoyable. Before actually smoking any Cubans, I predicted that Bolivar would be my favorite based on the descriptions of the various marcas' flavors. Definitely looking forward to giving the Belicoso Fino from the Christmas sampler a try soon. 89/100
Pag
Nice review and a staple in many humis. Would imagine you would like his sister. The San Cristobal El Principe not as much earth but more sweetness.Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk
saltbox
Yep, have been enjoying a box of the Principe and have two more on the way! Haven't made my way through all the marcas yet but San Cristobal definitely seems underappreciated.
