Popular Post Silverstix
I know there is a wide range of experiences with the Monte 4 - some good, some great, some awful. However this box has fallen into the good/great category very consistently this year. Solid 88-90 pointers. This example was no different. Construction is great, punch cut reveals a perfect draw. Pretty standard cold draw with some earth and tangy chocolate. 1/3 begins with a light bodied very aromatic experience. Earthy tobacco with some darker sweetness and nuts beginning to join the party as I make my way through the beginning of the cigar. Burn and draw are excellent. 2/3 sees some richer flavors coming around, less earth now and more of that dark sweetness with some nuts and citrus. Getting up to medium bodied, a nice lingering finish. Effortless smoke. 3/3 is more of the same from the middle of the cigar. Not the most complex but there is no harshness, no bitterness, just a very smooth smoke all the way down to the nub. Burn line has not required any touch ups. Solid medium bodied. Great example of a well done Monte #4. Excellent construction. You’re not getting a ton of complexity, but you’re getting a very enjoyable 60-70 minutes of smoking time with a medium bodied smooth profile that has some sweetness, nuts, earth, and natural tobacco goodness. Overall I’d give this one a 90. Right in line with what I’ve experienced from this box all year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MigsG
That’s the first Cuban that came to mind about consistency too. Most more expensive NCs I’ve smoked now this past year can’t even compare to the Monte 4. I always have a few around. Nice review.
david9985
This review and flavour experience matches mine for good Monte 4s: earth, tangy chocolate and some citrus notes! ?
Silverstix
Thanks gents. OBM has been a great code for Montecristo - my #5’s and Media Coronas have all been great as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
