Popular Post GVan Posted September 26, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 26, 2020 I have a short window this afternoon between storms here in FL so it's a perfect time for a Parti Short. This one is from a 50 SLB. Also, these just hit 90 days in the humidor today so my logbook say's it's time to try one. I've already smoked about 3 of them and my notes say every one had burn issues yet showed a lot of promise in the taste category when young. This one weighed in at 7.05 gms. which is a little light but the draw was perfect with just the right amount of resistance. It has a very smooth, medium brown wrapper and a nice feel with no soft spots. From the very start this is going to be interesting - on the cold draw I get a very distinct sweet nutmeg. Unusual and really pleasant - I actually take about 5 cold draws to confirm the taste and it's still strongly there - maybe I shouldn't light this one! The first half is all sourdough which is expected and one of the main reasons I like these. Unfortunately, the sweet nutmeg is gone not to return. This CC produces large quantities of smoke that has a floral character that I can't place but really enjoy. No bitterness on the tongue that a few of the earlier ones exhibited; it's just smooth. As the cigar progresses the sourdough is joined by a slight woody taste - not cedar more like oak. still very nice! At the halfway point, I get a few puffs of grass - not one of my favorites but it only lasts a few minutes and then changes into a dark roasted coffee which I really like. It stays with this dark coffee taste down to the band. Also, this one burned great with no relights and only one touch-up required. It's pretty windy outside and I attribute the touch-up to the 25 mph wind whistling through the second floor smoking porch. The best part of this cigar was the initial cold draw (who doesn't like sweet nutmeg) and then the last half with the dark coffee. Total smoke time was 55 minutes and I'd give this a solid 89 points and am looking forward to the rest of the box! 12
