CampDelta369 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Montecristo No. 1 BOE DIC 18 (MRW2) 1/3: Opens up with more coffee and woody notes. Draw is firm and a couple of tiny cracks in the first third detract from the smoke production but I expect it will self correct. The cocoa is present along with faint spiciness and sweetness. Ash is a flaky whitish grey. Unlike the #5 this starts out much milder and a bit more complex. 2/3: There is some transition here to wood and back to cocoa. At moments I think I detect forest floor or mushrooms on the edges but this is a montecristo after all. Regardless of what is difficult to define I am enjoying it. The burn has been very good. 3/3: The last third builds in strength with wood dominating the finish. I found throughout this example puffing too much to get the right amount of smoke. This caused me to burn a little hotter and faster than I like. Of course affecting the flavors. Still an 89 and look forward to the next one 3
