When I saw the box date on a 24:24 posting last year, I just knew I had to purchase it. It’s the same birth month and year as my daughter. I’ve had probably four out of this box  so far and all have been stellar.

A quick fondling is the cigar and I can tell it’s tightly packed. I clipped the cap and the draw is very tight. So much so I get little flavor on the cold draw.

First third: the cigar starts off with a strong black pepper. Pretty unusual for the montecristos I’ve had. The pepper is short lived. Wood and leather fight for the dominant profile. Smoke output is poor at best due to the tight draw.

Second third: the ash stays on for almost the entire first third and drops on my lap of course. The flavors take an instant turn. Spiced cream starts off this third with a little cedar flavor in the background. It gets a little sweeter but begins to have some burn issues to go with the terrible draw. The cigar goes out in the end of this third and I clip the end which revealed some tunneling.

Final third: The draw opens up finally but because I had to pull the draw so hard the flavors are muddy. Still, I’m able to get some chocolate with sweet cream. This is the best third by far but the damage had been done.

Overall, this was the worst out of the box I’ve had so far. It’s crazy how a poor draw can completely ruin a cigar experience. 85/100.

@RDB thanks... yeah I wonder what the best course of action is once you check the draw and it’s too tight? Put it back in the humidor? Made me wonder because I knew this was going to be a difficult smoke.

I like to dry box and check every week or so to see if it has improved any.

I recently began rolling cigars, so I have been breaking down the impossible ones and re rolling them with a couple Dominican filler leaves. Has been great!

@Kayslay that’s awesome you do that. Must have some interesting blends that way. I store my Cubans at 62% so not sure how long or low I should dry box them before the oils dry out

Yeah there is no science behind it all. My house stays around 60% RH as I live in new orleans, so I'm not sure how much moisture is really leaving the cigar.
