This cigar I picked up earlier in the year on a 24:24 had an extremely oily wrapper so I took my first pic in the sunlight to try and capture the gleam of it. It had a nice box press and was firm when given a little squeeze. It looked great with the exception of a small green spot. The aroma revealed nothing, just flat tobacco smell.IMG_4473.jpg.7c6a55757963a554a7343a1084d260c6.jpg

After I clipped the cigar the dry draw was a little fruity. I lit the cigar and in the first few puffs the flavors were all MOCHA. Coffee, cream, and chocolate. Like a great mocha latte. The cigar burned fine and produced a lot of smoke. I smoked this cigar mid-afternoon just after lunch and paired it with a cup of Sumatran coffee, a really good pairing.

The mocha flavors were intense on the retrohale making me want to retro every puff. By the end of the first third there were little changes in flavor, but that was just fine, they were fantastic.

Most of the second third continued like the first with the chocolate, coffee, and cream notes all playing well together. By the end of the 2/3 a graham cracker note started emerging subtly in the background and on the retrohale. It added a little sweetness to the flavors which was a nice change.

The last third saw the graham cracker notes scale up and coffee notes scale down making the profile of the cigar much sweeter. It made me let the finish linger a little longer because t was so sweet.

The cigar finished much with a continuation of the flavors already mentioned. Not overly complex but all the flavors were wonderful. If I was handed this cigar and had to guess without knowing how well 2019 fared for Montes I would have guess it was at least a 3 year old cigar. Rob definitely knows how to pick 'em. A fantastic smoke.
