Popular Post Rhinoww
The deal is broken. MOL JUL 18 I have waited nearly a year after starting on my serious CC journey before firing up a Cohiba. A few months ago a buddy asked me to split a box of Coro. This example is from that box. The Espys and Sig VI will wait for another day in the Coolidor I should start by saying I have smoked plenty of Johnny -O cigars. A few said to be Coro. I enjoyed them. I also enjoyed the price. Cohiba does not speak to my value equation. Then again, looking at what I have spent on CC over the last year one can make a strong argument that value is in the eye of the beholder. High expectations so here goes. Cigar was kept at 65rh 68 degrees. Easy v cut. Firm draw. Wrapper has some color variations in it. Not smooth like a baby’s butt. First expectation was not met, but this box was purchased to have some age already in it so certainly not PSP. Pairing w a Heineken and some John Caltrain on the google thing. Now playing a few of my favorite things. An omen? First puff is fascinating. Sweet toasted tobacco and a hint of banana (no 8 near the peak). It’s hot out so the palate gets a wash of lager. An uneven burn. Let’s blame the operator. Does it really matter anyway if you have a good lighter? First third continues w sweet toasted flavors and coffee w cream. Hints of spearmint dance in from time to time. I’m a quarter of an inch in and already thinking if I should get a few boxes. Interesting cigar and different than the rest of what I have been smoking so far. Cigar gets soft before the second third starts. Somewhat unusual but not unheard of. Perhaps the high heat and humidity here? Consistent sponginess throughout the remains cigar so maybe a lighter overall fill - yet draw was a bit still at cold. Hmm. Flavors linger on the palate for a long time. Enjoyable. Hints of toasted marshmallow. This thing can’t make up its mind. My son just harvested four green peppers from the garden. We will call this my amuse bouche before the second third. It also has hints of pepper so a quick sip of lager. Great veggie though. Next few draws are milk chocolate. Seriously let’s settle down here. I have no idea where this smoke is headed. Ash remains light and hard to keep on the cigar. A sign of some under fill I think. And like that the tingle Arrives w more toasted tobacco all intensifying. All of the random flavors noted above seem to be yielding to the dominant flavors I am more accustomed to having in a CC. I am Starting to wonder if the Cohiba part of this ride is over halfway through. Still a very fine cigar. Hmmm. Should I purge. It’s not bitter. Tastes good. Just not different anymore. Short debate. I purge. Two puffs out if that matters. Then I let it rest for a minute. Sweetness returns immediately as does the milk chocolate. No more tingles. Hmm. I may try purging here and there on other sticks. Still only halfway. John Coltrane is off wandering but like this cigar will soon return to his theme. Flavors are all over the place now. Complex again. Then back to the nice baseline. Almost done w middle third. One touch up. After a minute After a draw the flavor intensified and a rush of pepper. Final third has hints of mint but mostly mocha. It is quite rich. I did have to relight towards the end. Random number. 94. Worth my time. $20. Once in a while.
