Popular Post dominattorney Posted July 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted July 3, 2020 well, these have been a treat. I was gonna stash em away for a few years but they are better than my 2017 and 2016 boxes so to the flame they will go. Celebrating with my wife tonight as I will be a full partner in my small law firm by the end of August. Good times. Figired id get creative with the cocktail since it was still early and nice and summery on my deck. My stepdsughter left some kombucha in our fridge, or as I like to call it "hippy garbage drink." What the hell, life is good, let's riff on it and see what comes of it. This particular flavor was dry hopped grapefruit. Sounds promising, and might go well with mezcal for a Paloma spagliato of sorts. 4 ounces mezcal, the juice of half a grapefruit and half a lime, a half ounce of agave nectar, over ice stirred with the kombucha. Gotta tell you, this one is a keeper. The drink was very earthy and woodsy from the mezcal, with a refreshing bitterness from the grapefruit balanced with the sour lime. What pushed it over the top was the dry floral character from the hopped Kombucha. 10 out of 10, will definitely repeat. The cigar starts off well with typical strong partagas flavors of musty forest floor and leather. The drink nicely compliments the cigars earthiness with the woody mezcal, and the fruit juice and hops are a nice palate cleanser. This cigar is burning a champ and would probably hold more than 2 inches of ash but for the brisk wind we are dealing with. The flavors progress nicely with a funky barnyard coming to play in the second third thst continues to the nub. I have always enjoyed good examples of this cigar, as the flavors are consistent and don't leave you guessing as to what they are. Not a load of nuance for me, but the barnyard and forest floor shine through like in no other cigar. I bought this box from our host, methinks, so no surprise it is a winner. For psd4s all time, this box and this smoke are 10 of 10. If this cigar were always this good it would be on my top 5 list every year. 12
