How do you like to light your cigar?  I use either a soft flame lighter or a single jet flame to light my cigar.  I just toast the sides evenly until it's lit and would take a draw without purging.

I personally prefer a soft flame or matches if the climate allows for it but will use jet lighters if windy or outside and in a rush.  Toast the foot evenly, enough so it helps create a consistent burn over the whole foot but not too much that you burn the foot. I then draw the flame in and spin the cigar slowly for the even cherry. I then blow against the foot to see where might need a bit more love (soft hit again if so) and I'm done.  I just like to make sure I A. don't torch the hell out of the foot or part of the wrapper and B. have an even cherry on the foot after lighting. For me those two things are key in helping to preserve the flavors of a cigar and give yourself the best bet for an even burn throughout.

I found a cheap flexible head bbq lighter in Lidl, it's like the perfect hybrid of a Jet Flame and a soft flame. Plus the flexi head makes it really comfortable to use.
After realising how good it was I went back to get another one, but as is the way with Lidl they had all gone.

I've been using the Iroda Micro-Jet torch for the past few years and it works great. I just make sure the flame do not touch the cigar, the heat is enough to light the cigar.
