Popular Post StogieSteve23 Posted May 12, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 12, 2020 H. Upmann Robusto Anejados URG MAR-11 Opening Remarks: Now I know these cigars are often poo pooed by the cigar community and I'll admit that the first three from a fiver I bought a couple years ago, I did not enjoy. The remaining two I have had sitting in the bottom of my singles humidor, untouched for the better part of a year and a half now. Today I figured I'd give them another shot. I was very pleasantly surprised. Cold Draw: A very good unrestricted but not loose feeling draw and notes of cinnamon cocoa and ginger roll off the senses. A very ugly wrapper and seemingly poorly constructed cigar leave lots to be desired in terms of looks. There is a pleasant oiliness but not overwhelming sheen to rather veiny and imperfect seeming stick. The semi box-pressed feel is a nice shape in my fingers. I always enjoy this characteristic. First Third: The cigar lights up no problem with a razor sharp burn. Right off the bat I'm hit with an overpowering cinnamon/maple flavor. This lasts for a few puffs and into a creamy cocoa. Creamy chocolate. The smoke is ok but I find myself working hard for it. A rich creamy vanilla and shortbread on the retrohale. Almost a fresh baked bran muffin taste? Creamy cocoa returns, chocolate/vanilla (marble?) swirl fudge. Second Third: By now, the smoke production has increased significantly to a thick chewy satin like perfection. Creamy cocoa and chocolate are the stand out stars. A nice paprika on the retrohale now. The burn was getting a bit wonky so I had to touch-up. Black cherries and some sweet molasses appear until I roll into the final third. Final Third: Draw and burn are excellent at this point. Smoke smells like a sweet confectionary delight. Tons of cocoa and milk chocolate flavors with a slight black pepper on the nose as I nub the stick. Closing Remarks: Extremely enjoyable and flavorful stick. Solid medium bodied smoke with fuuuuullll flavor. I enjoyed every minute of this cigar (especially as I got into the second third and I didn't have to look at the ugly wrapper as much) and will be on the lookout for some more from this same time period. Smoking time was about 1.5 hours of pleasure. Burn: 4/5 (Good burn – razor sharp for most with a slight tough up near end of 2/3 which fixed itself after) Construction: 3/5 (Perfect draw/combustion great by end of 1/3 but physical construction by looks of the cigar is terrible) Flavor: 5/5 (Truly delightful – HEAVY creamy chocolate, cocoa, baking spices) Smell: 5/5 (Sweet confection heaven) Wrapper: 3/5 (Dark brown with large veins and some cracks – minimal sheen and a semi box pressed feel are nice to the touch) Overall Score: 20/25 6

hector87 Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 I'm happy to say that I purchased a box of these a few years ago from LCDH in St Maarten and I have have some very good smokes out of these. I think only 1 so far was not enjoyable but the rest so far have been great! 1
