Popular Post 5thStarChicago Posted April 12, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 12, 2020 Ah, the RS12. The first Cuban cigar that grabbed me, caused minor obsessive tendencies and got me firmly locked into this wonderful mess. It was my continued global search for these that originally led me to this forum. I used to smoke mountains of these until they were discontinued and didn't have the cash to buy 50 boxes back then. So this is from my last box and fortunately it's mostly full. I don't have the means or the interest in paying the current prices I've seen these at, considering how many great cigars exist in the world today. Back to the cigar at hand. Draw is perfect. The sweet spice is very heavy at light up, even after 10 1/2 years but it quickly calmed down to familiar levels. No gassing necessary, no harshness or lack of balance. The amount of body and flavor that these still have is fantastic. Tons of sweetness up front but also leather, earth, wood and pepper. The retro hale is super rich but not harsh at all. It's way too easy to smoke these too fast, which builds a little acidic twang to the flavor, but that goes away quickly one patience is exercised. There's more body to this one that I remember, but it's been a number of months since I last had one. I should not have made it the first cigar of the day, especially after not smoking yesterday due to chain smoking and heavy Bourbon County Stout consumption on Friday night, which left me destroyed all day Saturday. It's really hard to me to rate these anything less than 10 out of 10. The cigars themselves I adore, and they have years of life left in them that I'll continue to adore. The sentimental attachment I have to this cigar, the brand and everything that has come with them, including this forum and the relationships made here and elsewhere in the cigar community, since I first discovered them in the early 00's makes it a perfect smoke every time. I will sorely miss these when they are finally gone. They are my ultimate Cuban Big Gun. 11
