...now the demon was a little cheesy for my taste. I would have preferred a compromise here. The billowing ball with of smoke with the chalkboard 'chirping' was a great effect. I would actually have preferred it was left to that, although there was certain satisfaction with the Karswell character being picked up, mauled and tossed as smoldering trash on the RR tracks...! -LOL The Karswell character really made that movie.

In any event, the move stands as made, and one of my cult horror classics. I am with you in enjoying it the way it is.

I liked the billowing ball of smoke come back to life in anther cult horror classic favorite, Michael Mann's "The Keep."

Cheers! -R

Jeez - too bad we can't be in the same proximity of each other to watch movies and smoke some highly prized Habanas in the process - I liked "The Keep" primarily because of Tangerine Dream's music with it - particularly that scene where that "entity" is carrying Ian McKellen's daughter back to him after dispatching our favorite little whipping boys (i.e. Nazis!) after they'd roughed her up.

Now y'all are making me want to re-read the book and re-watch the movie.
