Popular Post teamrandr Posted March 29, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2020 I smoked one of these from 2007 over the summer. It may have been in large part due to my wife hanging out with me that night. She doesn't often join me fireside. Anyways that was one of my all time favorite cigar experiences. I am hoping for a similar experience with this younger example. I grabbed this stick to review. 1/3 The wrapper leans towards chocolate. Toasting this cigar is a treat. Aromas of plum and mocha mix in with tobacco . I am excited for this. The flavor follows suit with the toasting aroma. Baked dried fruit is amazing with the deep mocha. The draw is a bit tight. I use my cutter to snip a bit more off the head. This is the ticket. Draw is perfect now. The mocha is reminiscent of the very bottom of a really good espresso mocha after a good brunch. 2/3. This is progressing very well. The baked fruit aspect has increased. It reminds me of the cinnamon bourbon raisin I made at my last job. This pairs again very well with the dark/mocha background. In fact that seem to balance eachother out nicely. There is a depth to the flavors. I can taste a slight sugar plum that is on the baked fruit spectrum. The smoke is near full body for me. Half way now and I must again mention the flavor progression. The baked fruit is getting better and better. We have a nice rich Havana tobacco working its way into the mix. The transition is seamless. The core flavors are just blending right in. 2/3 There is a noticeable nicotine kick now. That is fine with me right now. The flavors are just plain enjoyable. The retrohale highlights the baked fruit flavor. The retro is smooth and has no bite. A true dark chocolate flavor is noticeable now. Less on the coffee end now. The transition is again smooth. It moves right into a chocolate covered raisin/dried fruit. Final 3rd The Havana tobacco flavor has gotten deeper. Still though I am getting the full round of flavors. Rich dark chocolate combined with the baked fruit. I suspect that these will age quite well. The final 3rd has some edges to it. The well rounded flavors are turning more into full roasted Havana tobacco. I put it down before it gets to the nub. I have no complaints, outstanding smoke. Score: 93 I am not a Havana expert. In my amateur opinion these may be worth laying down a few boxes to age. 11
GVan Posted March 30, 2020 Posted March 30, 2020 Good review, I always enjoy smoking a good cigar around the evening fire. Something old-fashioned about being outside with the wood burning away and mingling with the smoke of the cigar!
