Diplomaticos No. 2 LGR DIC 18 (SMRW)

Wrapper is a flat brown and dull with a relatively dry feel. Construction feels good with cold draw perfect.

1/3: This opens with floral notes which took me by surprise. Some dough and cream on the edges. Coffee and slight baking spices. Although I do get a bit of that Dip nuttiness it’s not in front at all. A real nice albeit different opening. There is no doubt the Corn and Vanilla of the Dickel No.8 sour mash is playing with my impressions here but the combination is damn nice.

2/3: The flavors really start to blend here and the burn is really slow and consistent. The intensity turns up a notch with more spiciness on at the half pole and also some sourdough on the edges.

3/3: more intensity and coffee bitters at the band as things get hot. I look forward to the next one.

Overall a solid 91 now. Construction and burn are perfect. I expect the last third to mellow some in next months but I will probably light another next week.
