Shatner's Bassoon Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 This came from a pyramid sampler box given to me at Christmas. Not sure how the box code works in samplers but that’s the one on this box. So far I’ve had the Cohiba (superb), the Upmann 2 (decent), and the Partagas P2 (irredeemably plugged). Construction is good; the wrapper is colorado, but not, in my opinion, up to PSP/HQ standard on here. There isn’t much evolution and it’s solid medium body. Flavours are coffee/cocoa with a slight creaminess. The cream increases towards the end, and there’s an occasional liqueur note through the retrohale. The burn and draw are both excellent. Overall it’s a satisfying cigar, but not up there with the best monte 2s, which are among my favourite cigars. It was stored at 65rh, and probably should have been dry boxed to open up the flavours. I rate it at 89. 3
