Popular Post rcarlson Posted March 23, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 23, 2020 Going to keep this short because this was my first disappointment from the legendary Fundadores. Aroma at cold was rich, doughy and woody. Construction spot on. Just the right balance and density for the format. The foreshadowing proved illusory. First third had that milky tea and twang. Extremely light vanilla on the back and some baking spice. Great start, but developed a minor blow out that peeled the wrapper. Quick repair and back on the road. Second third became flat and uninteresting. Don't know what happened. All of the subtle Trini flavors just disappeared. The burn remained fine and smoke plentiful, but all I was getting was a below medium earthy charred leather that just stayed put. Certain that creamy, shortbread, almond, unsweet cookie dough was on the way . . . Nope. Final third was no better than the second. No evolution, creaminess tucked its tail and ran, and a slight bitterness took over. All I got was "tobacco." A nearly two hour walk to an empty well. I am a big fan of the Fundi. Was looking forward to this one, but I was Punk'd. I give this one a generous "C -." Not gonna let it stop me though. I've had great Fundis from this box, this just wasn't one of them. Still nubbed it 'cause that's how I roll. 6
