Popular Post Shatner's Bassoon Posted March 21, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 21, 2020 This was a single from our genial host. I have assumed it’s 2019, although I must say that it didn’t give much impression of youth. I’m afraid I only gave it 88 days to acclimatise, and I didn’t dry box it, but given that this was a review weekend, I felt that it was my solemn duty to smoke it. This was the first Coloniales I’ve smoked, but it won’t be the last. The wrapper had a decent sheen, construction and draw were excellent. The burn needed touching up at one point but was otherwise good. The core flavour was biscuit/cake. More savoury at first, becoming sweeter as the cigar developed. There was also a milky coffee note (having read the thread on coffee flavours earlier, I would agree with those who described it as being like a ‘con leche’ coffee from Spain. The finish at times gave hints of slightly burned cinnamon and sherbet lemon. All in all, a flavourful, complex cigar. About an hour and a half smoking time, but I smoke slowly. All this in a very appealing vitola. A solid 92 for me. 5
