Popular Post X-Man Posted March 13, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 13, 2020 The vitola is Hermosos No. 4. Factory name corona extra. Its dimension is lightly thinner than a robusto and shorter than a corona gorda. Exactly the same to ERDM Choix Supreme. Dry boxed it the evening before. Cedar, woody notes at cold smell and cold draw as well. Not an oily cigar, but the veinless wrapper does have that silky sheen on. This is very pleasing to the eyes. No hard or soft spot detected, meaning this should be well constructed. Upon lighting and drawing, I can tell it is not a strong cigar. Because it is a rather mild and light smoke, I noticed the sweet aroma from the initial draw. Not sure if they all taste like this, or perhaps it was due to the Shanghainese dishes I just had for lunch. For those of you who are not familiar with Shanghainese cuisine, the main ingredients are brown sugar and dark soy sauce. Despite being a mild cigar, the tobacco taste is still quite complex. The retrohale is very pleasant. Creamy and buttery smoke, without any bitterness. While my mouth is picking up all these flavors, my nose is also enjoying the sweet aroma it gives off. No relighting or correction needed, as it does that by itself. This confirms the construction quality of this cigar is top notch. However, I did have to slow down and let my patience take over. Half way through the journey, I began to detect a slight hint of ginger, not the spicy type, but an enjoyable flavor. Once again, perhaps that was due to the Shanghainese dishes I had. Towards the end of my journey, herbal and floral scents have increased. A remarkable cigar for such a low profile brand. Effortless draw and perfect combustion. This for certain is a 93 points cigar now and interesting to see how it will age and be further developed with 3-4 more years in the humidor. 10 1
The Squiggler Posted March 13, 2020 Posted March 13, 2020 Hooray for the ginger notes to compliment your brown sugar and dark soy sauce! Sounds delicious! 1

BeerPimp Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Awesome review OP. I always take in account what I have eaten before, drank before , and are drinking with my cigar. It has a a big effect on the flavors you perceive. After finally getting my hands on a QDO 50 and smoking one after its 60 day rest I will say I really liked the flavor profile. I will definitely watch out for these because I love this Vitola. 1
