korryp Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 I am traveling and will be in Sydney near Darling Harbor from the 16th to the 19th. Any suggestions on where to go? I leaving on the 20th out of the Passenger Cruise terminal. Looking for a few good spots to smoke cigars and drink good whiskey and good food. Any suggestions?
Fuzz AI Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Depends on what you're into. Take a harbour cruise. Yeah, you're already going on a cruise, but you won't be seeing the whole place. And you won't be able to get off at different stops to have a look around. For food, Restaurant Hubert in Sydney is pretty good, especially their fricassee chicken. Style theme is postwar France, low lighting, no windows (it is below ground), multiple rooms with slightly differing decor, jazz music, excellent bar and impressive wine list. Only problem, they do not take bookings for less than 6 people. Other options are Bistecca, Banksii, Bistro Gguillaume, Spice Temple, Mary's Underground, Mercado. If you are looking for something a bit more lower end, but still great food, Green Peppercorn (Laos/Viet, and they have an attached bar that you can smoke in), Golden Century (Chinese), Harajuku Gyoza Beer Stadium, Mamak, Sea Bay Restaurant (northern Chinese). Either undo your belt or wear the loosest pair of pants you have, before reading the thread below. You will need the gym on the cruise after this.
Duxnutz Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Cohibar is still probably the best view and place to smoke freely. I stopped in there last trip but they only open at 2pm now. There’s a few people that gather there occasionally, but especially Sunday afternoons. I find their tap beer skunky so I’d recommend anything else. Make sure you BYO cigars; for smoking (very much lack of retail now). I usually bring in a 5er every trip with me; if you bring a whole box I’d declare them and tell anyone that asks that you’re going on a cruise. That should placate the taxation nazis.
