Pair Michter’s Straight Rye 10 year

A dear old friend just turned 40, gave him a bottle of Michter’s Straight Rye 10 year as a gift. Holding it hostage until he can come and get it, which means when he does, well hopefully open it together, with a cigar. 
Haven’t tried it and not a big rye drinker.... so, what would you pair it with?

I've been looking for one of these but have never found one. I have heard it's very good.

i think it very good indeed. surprised you can't find it. seems readily available out here. my latest actually turned up as a sample.

If I wanted to pay double msrp I could find it. Seeing it on the shelf is the problem. There are massive groups of people who buy everything and resell. Apparently people can retire and make more money selling bourbon like this than they did when they were working... makes finding even some middle shelf stuff almost impossible.

i am surprised that this one falls in that category. good bourbon but i'm surprised it is in the flipping level.

I have an '18 and '19. Well, had an '18. Drank it so fast and got the '19. and only about 1/3 left of the '19, it is THAT GOOD. It made me go into a rye phase...love love love it and wish I could find another one near retail. Secondary isn't double at around 220-230, but it's getting up there. It's worth 250-260, in my opinion, compared to everything else out.

Michters is a very complex Rye. Bold, smells sweet but strong, sour,.  Legs are long, coats mouth well. I've had it with different cigars, and my favorite was an Opus X Reserve. Since you most likely will have more than one taste, I recommend eat a great meal, and have several cigars on hand!!! Pick a cigar that puts out a lot of smoke to complement that Rye. 

Have to add, Michters is pretty smooth. If it's too much a few drops of cold distilled water will improve it.
