Popular Post TTP21 Posted December 27, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 27, 2019 As a proud parent of 3, you go through stages of life with the kids and wisdom kicks in to guide decisions that either favor or restrict the young ones. Cigars are similar, but much like kids, just when you think you have it all figured out they decide to throw a Molotov cocktail into your life. A Partagas D4, at about 4 months age, is a risky proposition. Add in 39 days rest, and the facts tell you to just sit this one out. Much like toting around a 3 month old baby to weddings, family parties, and shopping adventures when they've hardly established a routine - you're asking for headaches. Sometimes though, they surprise you. This cigar did just that. Burn was rough, but construction was great. My 3 month is cute as anything - in between the screaming fits. First third: partagas flavors abound. I think the lighter wrapper makes this one approachable so young. Second third: Relatively harsh, burn issues are annoying, but still hints of twang. Final third: coming in for a landing and things are smoothing out! Partagas flavors, twang a plenty! The moral of this story? I know nothing. Each kid(cigar) is a journey and giving them an opportunity to shine is what life is all about. You don't make silly choices and expect perfection, but align your expectations with your experience and they more often than not will leave you smiling. The baby pulled a 5 hour nap, enjoyed a walk with my father in law and 2 older ones and the pup and it ended with a nub and a great conversation while the kids entertained themselves. Life - gotta love it! Score: Solid 90/100 with tons of potential down the line. 12
dshot Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Great analogy relating cigars to kids! I know I have a 15 month old boy. Everyday is a new adventure or misadventure. It's hard to tell with D4's. I've had them fresh and they where amazing and aged both the same. I typically go with my gut instinct with them. I tend to pull out the shiniest and best feeling wrapper ones first and then let the others sit. Typically I'm satisfied either way. 1
