Popular Post MigsG Posted December 15, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 15, 2019 It just so happened that @slowsmoke sent me a bunch of cigars last week and this sweet-smelling Choix Supreme happened to be among them. This morning was sunny but cold, but I thought that with a thermos of hot coffee I could brave the chilly winter-like breeze. I have only ever had one Choix Supreme in the past, which was just very light in body and in flavor, and I commented that it was like "smoking air" to someone I talked to after I had the cigar. So I didn't expect much, although I was hoping it would be good, per @slowsmoke. Pre-light, this cigar had a wonderful aroma of caramel and flowers. It smelled good! You know a cigar is ready to be smoked when it smells good. Got that fragrant even pungent aroma. No smell or cardboard smell, and I've learned to bury it deep in the tupperdor to rest some more and check up on it after a month or so. No need to rush a cigar if it isn't ready. The first third was light in flavor with smooth smoke. After a bit I was tasting woody and light spice flavors. It then seemed to transition to a floral, bready smoke. Still light in strength. 2/3 brought on what tasted like mild milky coffee. That's what it tasted like to me. Was definitely getting good. Perfect with my steaming thermos of sweetened coffee. Final third was where it ramped up, to a medium with a milky and honey white bread taste that I really enjoyed. Like having a honey white bread with your coffee. What this cigar was missing, according to some others' reviews and experiences, was the pepper. This didn't have the pepper. But that was perfectly fine for me. It was a steady, after-breakfast cigar which I thoroughly enjoyed, and left me satisfied for the rest of the day. I score this particular cigar as a 92. Definitely an excellent example. 14
slowsmoke Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 Well, sounds like it was good, but not the "wow" I've been getting from that box lately. I have had a few that were big on honey. Glad it at least performed well. 1
MigsG Posted December 16, 2019 Author Posted December 16, 2019 For me, maybe not a "wow" but it had that milky honey bread in the final third that was very enjoyable.
dowjr1 Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I was surprised by some of these a while back in a good way...so time to revisit. 1
