GavLew79 Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Anyone else got one of these (cool cigar knife) from the Indiegogo campaign? I don't know about you but I'm hardly getting "the perfect cut"! It's tending to make a damn mess of my caps which then end up peeling or unravelling, and the cut edge is ragged as hell. What am I doing wrong?
Wilzc Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Theres two sides on the blade, one is beveled and the other is completely flat. U need to have the flat part of the blade facing 'the rest of the cigar' while the angled/beveled side deals with just the cap. This keeps the blade side thats doing all the work always flush against the lip of the handle that your cigar is resting on. These blades are sharp enough and so far all cuts seem to be really clean. Overall quality is turd however.... and is pretty much a 20-30 dollar knife workmanship with a half beveled blade (half the process) marauding as a USD150 knife!! 1
mt1 Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Overpriced crap, I've played with one and didn't like it. It didn't cut all that well for me and it's awkward to use as either a cigar cutter or a knife, which defeats the entire purpose to me. They look cool but when I found out the cost...I lol'd. 1 1

Yeah that's what I've been doing...it still cracks wrappers and shreds caps.

The looks drew me in, plus all the stuff (still yet to turn up!) like cigar stand, leather sheath etc. I guess it will be an ornament. ?
Zigatoh Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 This immediately felt like over hyped/marketed social media/Instagram "influencers" (paid advertisers/prostitutes) crap so I steered well clear. It's still depressing to be proven right, just once in a while it would be nice for genuine pride in quality workmanship to turn up. 1
KavalanWhisky Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Just dragging this back up as I came across these, anyone actually have one and use it? My Xikar is starting to squash cigars so looking for a new cutter.

I bought two as gifts, one for Artie (my accountant) and one for Smithy Both are loving them but they are not getting pushed too hard.
mkirk76 Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 The Cuba version in olive looks awesome. Tempted to get it just for the design. From a functionality standpoint, looks way more difficult to make a precise cut than my Palio.
Fuzz Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 I have a table top version. Very precise. You can measure the exact amount of cap you want remove. 4

Nice, I'm still tempted as they look soo good but really do want it to cut a cigar as well ? 3 hours ago, mkirk76 said: The Cuba version in olive looks awesome. Tempted to get it just for the design. Fine taste, that was the one I was also looking at as well as the HK skyline one..... 2 hours ago, Fuzz said: I have a table top version. Very precise. Lol So have you started using it again or moved onto something else? I relegated it to the emergency cutter. Have not used it since. I have a Palio (excellent) and Colibri V-Cutt (excellent) and a punch on the end of my Adorini lighter (ok). This was more of a fascination rather than being a useful cigar tool, for me anyway. The extras for getting in early were nice. Good cigar stand, nice leather sheaths etc.
