dominattorney Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 Gents and gentettes, Kindly forgive the terrible photography, as I am currently a few too many deep. Just so happens I smoked through all my stash i brought to jamaica yesterday and picked this up at the hotel cigar shop. Happy coincidence Montes are on the menu for this weekend. I've no idea the box code, but I never cared too much to catalogue anyway. Suffice to say it appears to have a few years on it, given the old band in the next photo. Fired it up after dinner, where I snapped the first pic. Construction was superb given the spongy feel from the over humidified storage conditions of the shop. Draw is firm but pleasant and burn is crisp, delivering cocoa and baking spice on a wave of toasted tobacco. My wife and I sat by a nice fire pit until it got too warm and she suggested....well, I did tell her it was sm weekend.... I kid, I kid....or do i? The hotel was kicking up a free reggae concert in the beach and we went down to check it out so I quietly put the cigar down for a nap while we danced. Oddly the hotel has a no smoking anywhere we can see you doing it policy, but there is no problem with starting loud music at 930 am continuing until 330 in the morning with drunk people screaming at the top of their lungs. A healthy 90 minutes later and I am out on the balcony firing up the left of this puppy for my last smoke before heading back into the freezing early winter or colorado. Figures, you buy some new cigars and lease a new italian sports car and the weather just takes a turn. The cigar is no worse for the wear at the start of round 2, though the flavor profile is the same, with baking spices now at the forefront. The burn and draw are going strong, but I have to say the red stripe does little to compliment the cigar. Should have listened to ken. As with all the cigars I had this week, with the exception of the very first, a boli cj, the humidity of the atmosphere takes its toll at the beginning of the last third causing the draw to clam up. The flavors hood strong, though earth and salt now weave themselves into the mix in a pleasant way. Turns out the red stripe can makes a better ash cup than accompaniment. I let it go out mid way through the final third. My wife is still tied up....ehhh sleeping, in the room after all. Cheers mates. Happy Thanksgiving to all, and safe travels back home to everyone visiting places an people they hold dear. I am very fond of everyone I have met on this site and wish all a happy holiday season with whatever traditions they honor. Good night. 2
