IanMcLean68 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 I really enjoyed a thread recently discussing cigars with a similar profile to the original Cuban Davidoff. With the decimation of the original Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo line, and the invasion of the fatties into the line up, I'd like to ask a similar question to the forum. Specifically, the cigars I am interested in are the du Prince, the des Dieux, and the du Gourmet, all sadly missed elegant skinny cigars from the Le Hoyo line up. These 3 were all favourites of mine and what I personally consider some of the best ageing cigars recently lost. The flavour profiles of exotic woods, cedar, cream, spice, vanilla, & black tea are all missed from these cigars. So my question is - What do members consider to be cigars of most similar profile to du Prince, des Dieux, and du Gourmet? 1
Markspring1978 Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 Interesting thread. The DD are one of my all-time favorites. I am a big fan of the size, which is why the Siglo III is favorite of that line. The flavor profile is tough to match/replicate. I’ll be quite interested to see what others comment on this. I tried to find the Davidoff thread you mentioned, but couldn’t find it. Could you post that link? 2
tigger Posted November 28, 2019 Posted November 28, 2019 There's really nothing close, IMO. I do enjoy the occasional De Depute for the woody aspects it shares with the rest of the line, but it lacks some of the other attributes you mention. 1 1

This is about where I stand currently as well, although I would add I find that the Epi 1 can share some aspects, just some basic DNA, as well. 1
