Popular Post teamrandr Posted November 24, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 24, 2019 It seems to me the PSD4 is widely appreciated by Havana connoisseurs. I found out today that 5+ years down definitely improved it's performance. It is too bad I only have 5 of these! The ole lady was down and out after a long night with her "Book Club." I was up with the sun and out in the yard working with Rye my 2 year old Golden Retriever. She really is my favorite lady ha!! So anyhow I had a great breakfast with espresso then grabbed this beauty to review for you fine folks. 1/3 The wrapper is dark with the illustrious rosado tone to it. Just a gorgeous wrap that has a toasted bread aroma along with tobacco. Before even lighting I am feeling excited. Right out of the gates I am pleased. The draw is perfect. Right up front is pepper. This is followed with some baking spice and dark roast. There is a bit of nutty flavor on the back end. The smoke to me is fairly full bodied. The flavors are rich tobacco with a burned bread coming lthrough. This cigar has some kick to it. I can feel the nicotine. The draw is just amazing. The baking spice is more pronounced as it progresses. A ginger cookie/molasses flavor is shining underneath pepper on the front. My palate feels clean for the full bodied smoke. Retro is straight pepper. Not Nicaragua pepper though. Hard to describe what I mean. 2/3. There is something about this cigar that reminds me of old Havana tobacco. It is a rich tobacco flavor. Pepper is picking up and I just rolling with it. Fortunately 1/2 way it is moving more into roasted coffee and nuts. There is an underlying well done bread flavor. I could see why many describe sourdough. The best sourdough in my opinion have a slight char. Again the draw is full blown and beautiful. Final 3rd Deep roasted flavors. Nuts, cocoa, tobacco. The pepper has toned down. Mocha coffee with the spices all mingling. Just a great smoke to have on a great day. The cigar had a lot of flavors mingling. It was well done though. The transition into more of the roasted flavors was very welcome. I suspect that these have the legs to go for decades. 95 This was solid all around. The stuff you dream about. Rich havana flavors with a smooth draw. The type of cigar to make you stop and think "Today was a good day." 5
leepers Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 Terrific Review. I just smoked one of these MUL 14 and it was wondrous. I'd put it at a 95. Deep and flavorful, twang and depth. Some smoky, resin. Pepper for days but that undergirds, as you say, baking spices. Nuttiness. Coffee. That slightly sweet smell of the New York City street nut roasters came to mind. The pepperiness is present through out and it's not Nicaraguan at all in that the latter's pepper is like if you sniffed fresh cracked black pepper and it grabbed your nose sneezily. This is not that. More delicate, more nuanced. That unsweetened cocoa you mention was very apparent in mine without its ever turning acrid or alkaline. One of the best smokes of the week if not month. Thanks for your review; had the same so I had to chime in and agree. 2
bbguardsp Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 I though you sat the cigar on some hand carved wooden sculpture until I realized it was the cigar itself lol 1
