Popular Post cigaraholic Posted November 15, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 15, 2019 I remember breaking into a box of these very early, I guess since it has been almost 50 years since SLR had a pyramid I couldn’t resist. I remember it being a very tasty cigar but it had a unique spice flavor that I could tell was still closed up and thought it will take a while for that to spice to blossom. So of course I bought a few more boxes ? Always a huge fan of SLR and since HSA has decimated this brand how many choices do we have. Love the size hate the price! The cigar is well filled at 13.7g and has the perfect cuban resistance draw. First puffs are all caramel, like a great PL and then I get toffee coating the upper part of my mouth. On my tongue I’m getting white pepper and it’s a little dry, then I remembered I have some Raymond-Lafon in the fridge, so I went and grabbed a glass of that. Talk about an easy way to add some stone fruit to your SLR ? Body is a little over medium which is perfect for me, I love to have a nice Sauternes with medium bodied cigars. The apricot on my tongue is just perfect with the toffee coding the roof of my mouth. The middle of the cigar goes up to medium and a little coffee flavor replacing the white pepper on the tongue. The Sauternes is really doing wonders for this cigar. The last third is certainly the best, cigar body is gone up to medium full and that sweet caramel toffee flavor on the roof of my mouth has now come down into the tongue and just made a delicious flavor with the wine. Glad I switched from water to Sauternes with this cigar! 7
